Axis of the World, Tower of Eternity

Many thousands of years ago, the omniscient and omnipotent Aion created a world full of warm and gentle light and Aether.

The name of this beautiful, lush world that had received Aion's blessing, was Atreia. Back then, the world was lacking nothing - it was perfect and peaceful.

The axis that kept this world upright was the Tower of Eternity. It was the pillar that underpinned Atreia, consisting of the same Aether Crystal that we often identify with Aion, the creator.

The Broken World and the Abyss

About 1000 years ago, a large catastrophe struck in Atreia... a catastrophe so great that it is known to everyone even now.

Because of the heinous attack by the arrogant and savage Balaur, the Tower of Eternity shattered in half and Atreia became divided into Elysea and Asmodae.

The fissure created in the Tower led to Aether, the source of all life and energy, to flow out freely into the world. The shattered tower also caused the Aether to generate an abnormal resonance, leading to the creation of the Abyss...

During this process, Aether was consumed rapidly and the scholars unanimously stated that this would sooner or later lead to the destruction of the entire world.

The only way to stop Aether consumption was to remove one of the two broken tower fragments and the abnormal resonance of the Aether. That meant destroying the Tower of Eternity of the opposing faction.

The Fissure of the Broken Tower

To destroy the other Tower of Eternity fragment, we have been researching ways to infiltrate the opposing faction to destroy it from within.

One of the best known methods is to enter the Abyss and use the Dimensional Rifts there. We are able to travel between Elysea and Asmodae by using those Dimensional Rifts.

However, the Dimensional Rifts are in constant motion and unstable, which means they can't be used by large forces at once. That's why we have started looking for a more safer and effective way to travel to the opposing faction's territory.

What we found was that we could use the Tower of Eternity itself.

By going through the end of the broken Tower of Eternity, you just have to cross the fissure there to get to the other side of the tower.

Towards the Tower of Eternity...

Since we've established our goal of entering the opposing faction's territory through the Tower's fissure, scholars of all sorts have come up with the following steps.

1. We enter our side of the Tower of Eternity.

2. We arrive at the top of the Tower of Eternity.

3. We move to the other side of the Tower of Eternity through the fissure at the top of the tower.

The main problem is the first step - entering the Tower of Eternity on our side.

After the Cataclysm, the guardians of the tower, Lady Siel and Lord Israphel, used up their life force to create a protective barrier. This barrier cannot be entered from the center of Atreia.

To finish this off...

According to rumors, with time having passed so many years now since the Cataclysm, the barrier surrounding the Tower of Eternity has begun to weaken and shrink. We dare to hope that we might soon be able to enter the tower!

When that time comes, we will have to remain vigilant and see which side will become the master of what remains of Atreia.

Will the future we hold in our hands be eternal or stand on the brink of destruction?
