The Shining Illusion Legion At the time when the Twelve Empyrean Lords were training Daevas at the Sanctuary and the seemingly endless Millennium War was being fought, there was a legion that took the vanguard and fought the Balaur more valiantly than anyone else. The name of this legion was the Shining Legion. They called themselves that because they wanted to be a bright light, giving the world back the hope to escape from the tyranny of the Balaur. Onlius, Teminisan, Jouheian, Minorion, and Kiminas were the five members of the legion and except for the Brigade General, who was in his 20s, the remaining members were in their teens which made the legion even more famous. But after the Cataclysm, nothing more was heard about this Shining Legion that had brought hope to the humans. Their name was passed on still for many generations, but no one knew where they had gone. Over time, the word 'Illusion' was added to their name, making them the 'Shining Illusion Legion'. Chapter 2. Onlius, the Shining Guardian Onlius was the Brigade General of the Shining Illusion Legion and its oldest member. He was born as the only son of a fisherman and was raised in a small village. When he moved to a larger city for his studies, he heard how many people were suffering under the Balaur. He then decided to apply for training at the Sanctuary where he ascended to become a Daeva. Because of his gentle and mellow appearance, Onlius was often the butt of many jokes, but in battle, he was colder and more terrifying than anyone else. He was very strong and dexterous and could wield any weapon without much effort. The Shining Illusion Brigade under his leadership as Brigade General did many great deeds, protecting Atreia. Chapter 3. Teminisian, the Beautiful Assassin Teminisian was the youngest member of the Shining Illusion Legion and no matter if friend or foe, they all knew him to be extremely beautiful. Already from a young age on, he aspired to wipe out the Balaur and entered the Sanctuary at the early age of 13 where he completed the training alongside adults. In less than 3 years, he had ascended to become a Daeva. Just as Teminisian had a godlike, holy appearance, he fought on the battlefield with a dance-like elegance, and was so beautiful that no one could take their eyes off him. But as he also had a tendency to lose any items entrusted to him, and broke everything his fingers touched, the other members were said to always worry about him, becoming overly protective. Chapter 4. Jouheian, the Powerful Bard Jouheian, shortest among the members of the Shining Illusion Legion, was famous for being able to overpower the lines of the enemy. He was a strong and impressive sight, and able to raise the morale of allies at the same time. His dream had been a quiet and peaceful life, but to protect his family, who were living in an oft Balaur-invaded region, he entered the Sanctuary and ascended to become a Daeva at the age of 19. Compared to his strong outward appearance, Jouhein had a delicate and sensitive character. Anecdotes about the day of his ascension all mention the tears he spent, thinking of his family. He had a talent for poems and songs, so he often performed and sang songs for other Legion members who had also left their homes. However, his comrades heard him play so often, that their reaction became rather unenthusiastic over time. Chapter 5. Minorion, the Handsome Swordsman Minorion was famous for being the most handsome of the Shining Illusion Legion's members. He was also well known for his lightning-fast reflexes and tall stature, which he used often to overpower his opponents. His father had worked for a knight order, protecting the region. On recommendation of the knight's leader, he entered the Sanctuary and ascended to become a Daeva at the age of 17. Minorion was so handsome that people passing by him would turn their heads, and with his warm demeanor, he was the dream of many a lady, earning him the nickname 'Father of all of Atreia'. Maybe influenced by his father's propensity for pranks, Minorion was a strong proponent of order and hierarchy. Chapter 6. Kiminas, the Prankish Mage Kiminas the mage was known to have been the smartest member of the Shining Illusion Legion. He was famous for his unusual intonation when chanting spells while roaming the battlefield. As the son of a lord of a small town, he always despised those who fled from Balaur attacks. He entered the Sanctuary to protect his citizens and ascended as a Daeva at the age of 17. Like a true nobleman, Kiminas always worried about the neatness of his clothes and even went on a diet to adjust his weight. As he liked to joke and scold, he often fought with Minorion who was more serious than he was. But on the battlefield, there were no closer friends than them, always having each other's backs. Chapter 7. The Shining Illusion Legion? The Shining Illusion started to make their appearance in the latter part of the Millennium War and nothing was heard of them again after the Cataclysm. According to many Daeva recollections from before the Cataclysm, they were an elite legion that followed the fate of the nameless hero. Opinions differ as to why they disappeared from history but there are various theories. One says that they were punished during the Cataclysm. Another that they entered the flow of Aether to stop the Cataclysm. And another that says they never existed at all. But no one knows the truth. However, the romantic story of this legion that fought during the Millennium War till that tragic event might also serve as a comfort to those hurt in the Cataclysm and the everlasting war.
