The Birth and Legend of Dragon Lord Ereshkigal

A legend about the birth of Ereshkigal has been passed down orally since ancient times. The following excerpt is from Ancient Legend Volume 5, The Legend of Dragon Lord Ereshkigal:

- The Birth of Ereshkigal

Aeons ago, a group of Drakans discovered a huge transparent Drakan egg in the middle of a scorching desert.

The egg radiated a deathly cold, but the Drakan believed they could hatch a powerful creature should they nurture and so they carefully transported the egg to one of their villages.

As the egg hatched, an enormous Drakan emerged. With its first breath it demanded allegiance of the surrounding Drakan.

- The Moment of Ascension

Ereshkigal eventually grew tired of the limitations of her form, and left the Drakan to search for greater power.

She entered a frigid cave in a desolate land and meditated for centuries, searching for ways to hone her mind. The intense cold lowered her temperature and slowly encased her in ice before she awoke.

Ereshkigal was the first Drakan to ascend through shear force of will and, in doing so, bore the power of the frigid wastes into her flesh.

The Risen Ereshkigal and the Incarna

There are many speculations over the heirarchy of the Balaur Lords, but the most credible information states that they fight against one another and share no core allegiances.

Despite this, Beritra, the fourth Dragon Lord, freed Ereshkigal from Drakenspire Depths and unleashed her onto the world.

It is still unknown why Ereshkigal was sealed in Drakenspire, but her confinement has obviously weakened her, given the number of sacrifices made to force the blooming of Incarna.

Siege on and by Ereshkigal

After the fall of the Divine Fortress, a strong ice storm swept through Reshanta.

Through multiple sieges, and the use of the First Dragon Lord's ashes, the Divine Fortress was recaptured.

Many Daevas fell during the sieges, but those numbers paled in comparison to the destruction wrought Ereshkigal's counter-attack. She tried to secure the power of the Tower of Eternity, and destroyed Reshanta while attempting to do so. Shards of Reshanta fell into Atreia, devastating the land and slaughtering thousands.

Disappearance of Ereshkigal and Heroes

A hero with Aion’s power appeared and stopped Ereshkigal by burning their own soul and unleashing that power to shield Atreia.

Ereshkigal realized her plan had failed, and fled to Lakrum.
