There are three Mau tribes here in Morheim. The Ice Claw and Mist Mane Mau are extremely hostile and cause problems for us on a daily basis.

The Silver Mane Mau, however, have not crossed us and we have mutual understanding of peace.

Interestingly enough, we've found the the Ice Claw Mau serve the Artifact Protector instead of the Balaur, but are the most aggressive.

Player: "Why do you think that is?"

I'm not sure, but it has only been getting worse.

We need to put a stop to their arrogance and remind them where they stand.

Speak to Teleporter Orhe about traveling to the Artifact Protector. I may have an idea about how to put an end to their attacks.

Player: "Right."

Reaching the Artifcat Protector is not a simple task. This is beyond me.

I can't be bothered to handle this directly, so yes I have been waiting for you.

Listen up. There is an Aetheric Field surrounding the Artifact. There is apparently a test that has to be passed before you're allowed to enter.

You are no exception. Take the test, deal with the White Brow Tayga, and complete the mission, Player.

Player: "What do I have to do?"

First, you need a special bait. Go to Salintus Rise and hunt a Stubborn Abex to get some Red Abex Meat.

Find the Altar of Trial. It is guarded by a great number of Mau, so don't get reckless.

Take this flint, use it to make a fire in the Dead Fire and roast the meat. Then attracted by the smell, the White Brow Tayga will be lured in. Kill it and then seek Landver, who has been dispatched to the area, for your next instructions.

Player: "Maybe I should write this down."

You must not have heard me the first time.

Roast the meat at the Altar of Trial, and kill the White Brow Tayga!

Player: "Alright, I've got it."

You lost my flint?

How...I...

Nevermind, just take this one. Don't ask for another one.

Player: "All right."

You returned.

Everything go as planned?

Player: "If getting attacked by a Tayga was planned, then yes."

Good, my plan was perfect. Now all that remains is disposing of the Artifact Protector.

Deep in the Ice Claw Village is a place surrounded by a translucent Aetheric Field.

Get inside the field and track down Protector Karhel.

Player: "Sounds easy enough."

Killing the Tayga should have awarded you with an honorary title and status. This status will allow you to use the Statue of a Mau Hero. Use it to enter Karhel's Aetheric Field. Then, defeat the Protector Karhel.

It will be a hard fight to reach the Aetheric Field. I would seek out allies before venturing into battle.

When you've succeeded, return to the fortress and report back to Centurion Nina.

Player: "Understood."

You're back.

Well, don't keep me waiting...

Player: "The Mau lie in ruins."

Without Protector Karhel, the Ice Claw Mau are completely lost.

This was a matter of interest for the Brigade General as well, so let him know of your success.
