When Gestanerk left, the Kerubar arrived....

Yadamonerk has thought hard on this, and is sure that he is the one sending Kerubar to the excavation site.

Why else would they be obsessed with the relics that they can't even eat.

Player: "How could this Gestanerk do that?"

Not hard at all for Gestanerk--he could talk to Kerubar!

Always he sent them to fight somewhere else, and then picked up relics easily. Very good system, yes?

Perhaps too good, Nyerk. One day, he told us he would take the half of relics he finds from then on for himself!

Player: "What?"

Yadamonerk is ashamed at such behavior from a Shugo. Not only is it selfish, but also against Union rules!

One or two extra relics is easy to...ignore. But half is too many. Gestanerk disappeared that night, and Kerubar arrived soon after.

How can a Shugo betray other Shugos like this! He must be stopped, Daeva. Will you help the Excavation Union?

Player: Accept.

Gestanerk was close to the Human Hecuba, working there behind Chaurinrinerk.

She will know where Gestanerk is. If she doesn't talk, say you will tell Crios that Hecus is Black Scent.

Is complicated, but true. Just say it, same way, yes?

Player: "Crios, Hecus, Black Scent. Got it."

I've never been in a place like this, where Shugos outnumber Humans.

Some Shugos are okay, but more are stingy, and even rude!

Anyway, you seem quite close to the Shugos. Are you joining the Shugo union, or something?

Player: "Do you know where Gestanerk is?"

Gestanerk? That sounds like a Shugo name. Go ask of one of them.

Was he in the Meniherk Excavation Union or something?

I don't pay much attention to Shugos--I can't even distinguish one from the other. They look alike!

Player: "Perhaps I should tell Crios that Hecus is...Black Scent."

Wh...what? I, I...that, Gestanerk...all right, all right! I'll tell you everything.

I was close to Gestanerk. He told me we could make big money using Kerubar. I was interested, but we couldn't work out an equitable split.

The last time I saw him was in the south of the Crimson Barrens. Haven't seen his furry face since then, and good riddance! You have to believe me!

Player: "We'll see about that."

(The body of a Shugo with ripped and torn clothing does little more than gather dust.)

(Lifeless fingers clutch a sack, on which is written "Gestanerk.")

Player: "This can't be good...."

(A folded remnant of paper peeks out of a vest pocket.)

Player: "Rest in peace. I'll let Yadamonerk know your fate."

Hecuba has been nervous and frightened since you left.

Yadamonerk feels same way. Your face says you have bad news.

What is it, Daeva? Where is Gestanerk?

Player: "You'd better take a look at this...."

Gestanerk is dead? Left alone in the dirt? No Shugo deserves this end, nyerk.

This letter does not explain much. Perhaps if Yadamonerk had the rest of it....
