The Balaur have guarded the Abyssal Splinter as well as they can, and that's the most telling thing about it.

You'd think they'd all have pulled out when they lost this fortress, but there are plenty of remnants still protecting the Splinter. Keeps our soldiers from patrolling, I tell you.
