Asmodian Only

Description:
Talk with Walque. Talk with Kronag. Talk with Kanovi. Get a Highland Husk and take it to Kanovi. PlayerTalk with Kanovi. Talk with Muratun. Take the Tejhi Trust Token that Muratun gave you to Batuga. Report to Walque. Order: Meet with Walqule.
Summary:
Walque told you that the Reians were helping investigate the new continent of Enshar, and urged you to speak with Kronag. Surprisingly, the Reian seemed to have formed a close friendship with an Asmodian scholar, Kanovi, and asked you to go find him outside the base.

Kanovi asked you to help him research his theories, which involved bringing him the skins of some nearby creatures. Once you did, Kanovi proved an incredible theory--that Enshar had once existed above the sea, a long time ago.

He sent you to speak with the Tejhi, an ancient race of sea-people. The Tejhi Muratun wished for peace with the Asmodians, and sent you to speak to Batuga, who confirmed that Enshar once existed above the sea. When you reported all of this to Walque, she said she might consider an alliance with the Tejhi after all.

Full quest's text:
As the Expedition moves deeper into Enshar, we're discovering more and more that needs our attention.

We're investigating Tiamat's ruins, thanks to the information you brought back, but we haven't learned anything new yet.

Beyond that...

Player: "Beyond that?"

Learning about this new world will take a lot more than a simple scouting party.

Do you know how many scholars we have here, Daeva? You met our resident expert on ancient civilizations, Nixie, but we also have historians, biologists, geographers, and many more. Some of these scholars and researchers are Reian.

Go speak with Kronag, Player. He will explain what the Reians are doing here.

Player: "I'm on my way."

Galam, Asmodian Daeva.

I saw you speaking with Walque. Since I imagine she sent you to me for a reason, allow me to say first that we have not forgotten the friendship your people showed us when Sarpan was lost. It seemed only fitting that we aid you in your exploration of this new land.

Of course... the discovery of the Dragon Lord's involvement has shaken many of my brethren, but I have faith that this is the right path. Lady Siel will guide us to safety once again.

Player: "So, what is it you study?"

I study anthropology, as does Nixie. It is known that the ancient civilizations of Katalam eventually collapsed on their own, after which the Dragon Lord Tiamat came to rule the land.

When Katalam was lost along with Tiamaranta and Sarpan, this land rose up from the ocean--and the information you and Nixie discovered indicated that Tiamat had some involvement here.

So, of course I have to wonder... what connection is there between Katalam and this new land?

Player: "Do you have any theories?"

You should speak to Kanovi. He has pulled together some interesting thoughts as of late, but I think you should hear them from him instead of me.

Though, I admit that is not the only reason I suggest you speak with him. He left base a while ago to pursue his theories, and I have been... worried.

The Asmodian scholar and I get along quite well, and I consider him a friend.

Player: "I'll find him."

Yes, what? Who are you? I don't have time to talk right now.

...Unless you want to talk about my research, I guess.

Player: "I do, actually. Kronag sent me."

Oh, you do? He did? Well, I trust Kronag. If he sent you, I'd be happy to tell you about my findings.

So, the research samples found on Pentachroma Coast showed that Enshar had definitely--as we knew--been under water for a long time. But they showed me something else, too.

Player: "What's that?"

Evolution!

Which is to be expected, of course, but the signs indicate... well, I can't say for sure, but I have a theory.

I need more samples to study--if you're here to help, get me a Highland Husk from either a Coralskin Dreadclaw or a Young Coralskin Dreadclaw. I'll explain more once I can look at it.

Player: "Uh, okay..."

Whew, finally. It feels like I've been waiting forever!

Did you get me a Highland Husk?

Player: "Sure did."

Good! Okay, let's see... I just have to check something against my notes... Hold on, this won't take long.

Player: "Sure..."

I was right! Azphel's Shadow, I was right!!

Player: "Whoa, about what?"

These creatures are evolving to their terrain, of course. That's to be expected, but it's happening faster than it normally would, but that's because the genetic memory was already there.

See how small the gills are on this skin? Now compare it to these sketches I have here, of creatures from centuries ago. By studying the bones and what traces of internal--

Player: "Just tell me what it means, Kanovi."

...Of course. Sorry, I get excited. Ahem...

What it means is, simply, that the creatures of Enshar evolved into aquatic, sea-dwelling animals from land-based animals. This means that Enshar, though it was submerged for thousands of years, used to be above sea level!

We need to talk to the Tejhi. They're an ancient race, surely they know something about this... Listen, there was a representative of the Tejhi who wanted to negotiate with us, Muratun. Walque turned him away, but I think you should go talk to him.

Player: "I think I should, for different reasons."

Thank you, you of the unknown, winged race... Your fellows would not deign to speak to us. You, somehow, are different?

My name is Muratun. I am an Elder of my race, the Tejhi... As you can see, my people are at war with one another, for reasons of our own. This is why we have come to speak with you....

But to ask a favor, I must offer one, as well. What would you ask for?

Player: "Information."

That is an easy thing to trade... But this is not the place.

I offer you this token. Bring it to Batuga. He waits by your dwelling, hoping your leader will change her mind.

Find him and ask your questions... just know that we will ask ours, in return.

Player: "That seems fair."

Well we meet, friend-who-is-unknown.

You are the first of your kind to speak to me.

What words do you offer?

Player: "I was told to bring you this."

This token... You have spoken to Muratun, then.

This is well... A favor shall be given.

What would you ask of me?

Player: "I want to know about the ruins."

You have approached the ruins, Wingback? There are vile creatures protecting that place....

We could wash over them like water upon the shore, and claim them for the sea, if we wished... But we have no desire to approach the ruins.

Why risk ourselves for no gain? There is nothing of interest to us there.

Player: "Okay, then I want to know about Enshar."

Enshar was the land beneath the sea.

Anything else of it we know only as legend and myth.

Player: "Was it always beneath the sea?"

You have much knowledge of our legends, Wingback... I am impressed.

No, it was not. The legends passed down by our people tell of ancient beings known to us long ago. Great... flames... they were also called. It is said they gave us the sea as our own. That is all I know of the time before the flood.

Do you have another question?

Player: "That's all for now."

For now....

I, too, have questions, but... Our friendship has just begun, Wingback.

All things will come in time.

Player: "We'll see."

This was originally land? But it's land now. You mean it was above the sea, then below the sea, and now it's above the sea again? What's the point of that?

There's even more we don't know about this place than I thought. Hmph. Maybe I was too hasty in turning away the Tejhi. They might be able to help us gain a foothold here.

Good work, Player.
