That may be the key. If the Rod really powers the Rift Orb, it should contain much more energy than it does now.

My theory is that the Quartz Rod itself is also low on energy.

As the Rod is a power source, it'll need a massive infusion of energy, preferably from something native to Balaurea.

Have you ever seen a Wraithling? It resembles nothing so much as a flying humanoid tree.

They are filled with magical energy. I can think of no better source for our purposes. Can you hunt some down for me?

Weeping Wraithlings near the Dragonrest are particularly powerful. You should start with them.

Their Mystical Roots hold the power we need to replenish the Quartz Rod, and thus the Rift Orb.

Just remember that time is of the essence, Player. We are racing an unknown clock.

Player: "Don't worry, I realize this."

I've been doing research while you were gone, and I think I've found the spells needed to recharge the Quartz Rod.

All I need now are Mystical Roots. I assume you have them?

Player: "You assume correctly."

I would have thought that seeing everything with your own eyes would've made you realize how serious this situation is.

Stormwing is a power even a Dragon Lord couldn't kill--only seal away. It may soon get loose and destroy everything in a rampage of revenge.

If killing Weeping Wraithlings for their Mystical Roots will prevent this, you must do it.

Player: "So impatient...."

(She wraps the Roots around the Quartz Rod and mutters an incantation. Light emanates from the Rod, then quickly fades.)
