Description:
Talk with Pomponia. Talk with Sulla. Talk with Philon. Obtain a sample from Western Petrified Mass. Obtain a sample from Eastern Petrified Mass. Obtain a sample from Southern Petrified Mass. Talk with Sulla. Report the results to Pomponia. Order: Meet Pomponia at Soteria Sanctuary and obtain the order from the Inggison Illusion Fortress.
Summary:
Hushblade Legionary Pomponia gave you an order from the Illusion Fortress and asked you to assist Sulla, one of the scholars researching a way to prevent the petrifaction spreading from Scar Canyon. Sulla said there was more to the petrifaction phenomenon than it seemed, and asked you to help find evidence to support his hypothesis.

Philon at Scar Canyon said it was difficult to get the samples because they are connected organically like living creatures, and asked you to help collect them. When you obtained the samples and took them to Sulla as instructed, he confirmed that they were fragments of giant weapons and was ecstatic that his hypothesis was proven correct.

Pomponia said that those in the fortress were delighted to hear that the petrifaction would not spread like originally feared, and she suggested that you see Brigade General Yulia when you next visit the fortress.

Full quest's text:
You've come. An order arrived from the Illusion Fortress a couple of days ago. As most of the Balaur troops in Inggison have been dealt with and there has been progress with the installation of Obelisks, they now want us to handle a problem near Soteria Sanctuary.

Have you been to Scar Canyon? It is known as a place that was petrified by Tiamat's curse. We have been keeping an eye on it and have recently discovered a huge trace of petrifaction there.

Its massive size is unprecedented, and we're anxious that it might spread to the rest of Inggison.

Player: "That sounds like a problem."

Yes, it is. Therefore, many scholars have been dispatched to find a way to prevent the spread of petrifaction.

A while ago, a scholar named Sulla sent us word that he believes he made an amazing discovery and requested for someone to assist his research. He claimed that the giant hill we thought was just a petrified geological feature is actually a fragment of something, and he needs the final confirmation to support his research.

I don't know what he's discovered, but we won't have to worry about petrifaction anymore if Sulla's claim is true, so we made the decision to give him full support.

Player: "How can I help?"

I knew you would show an interest, Player.

Judging by how confident Sulla sounds, I think he already consulted the scholars in Sanctum and the surrounding regions.

If you could, please head over to Sulla and find out how you can assist him.

Player: "You bet!"

Hey there, were you sent from the Illusion Fortress? I didn't expect to see a [%userclass]. I thought they would send a geologist or an archaeologist... then again, I don't know why I think I can anticipate them.

As Pomponia probably told you, I came here to study the petrifaction phenomenon that occurred in Scar Canyon. Some of the scholars insist that the land is still under the grip of Tiamat's curse, but I don't agree with that.

Then I reached the hill in question. I thought it was just some buried Balaur bones at first, but when I looked at it again, I found it wasn't so.

Player: "Don't leave me hanging..."

It was an amalgamation of several pieces connected organically, and the degree of complexity of each piece leads me to believe it wasn't crafted by humans.

I have a guess to what that petrified lump might be, but it's too early to speak of it. To confirm my suspicions, I have returned to look for related materials.

Philon stayed behind at Scar Canyon. I asked him to collect some samples, which doesn't seem to be going well. Could you help him? Your investigation will allow me to complete this research.

Player: "I'll get you the proof you need!"

Did Sulla send you? Phew, now we might get somewhere.

I've been to several excavation sites, but I've never had this much trouble. I've tried to obtain some embedded pieces as samples to identify what this giant petrified hill is, but I can't take them off.

How should I say this... it's almost like they're alive and refusing to let go of each other.

Player: "That's creepy..."

Tell me about it. Anyway, I'm glad you're here.

Here, take this. It is a sample box crafted specifically for this study. Just place the samples you extract from the Western Petrified Mass, the Eastern Petrified Mass, and the Southern Petrified Mass in there.

When you collect all the samples, go straight to Sulla. You can imagine how eager he must be.

Player: "Eager is putting it mildly."

(It looks like a petrified geological specimen.)

(Looking more closely, you see that it is a huge piece separated from the ground. It seems to be connected to other pieces.)

(You try to extract a sample, but it's impossible via physical means.)

(You try extracting with vitality extraction.)

Player: "It worked! Into the sample box you go..."

Player: "That's a good little sample. In the box you go."

Are you returning from Philon's campsite?

You look like you have good news.

Don't keep me waiting! Was there progress?

Player: "I think you'll be pleased with this."

Hmm.... Incredible! I knew it, I knew it!

Would you look at that.... It is as I thought. I was actually guessing that the giant hill might be a trace of giant weapons and these samples confirm my theory!

I have been gathering information related to this from renowned scholars in Sanctum and Elysea. These look slightly different in comparison, but they are strikingly similar, almost as if they were from a common source.

Player: "Wow."

I once asked Pyrrha, a scholar in Theobomos, about the possibility. She said that if we could find evidence of giant weapons in Inggison, we could hypothesize that giant weapons existed even before the curse of Tiamat.

It's incredible! I can't believe that the weapons from the legends actually existed, but here's the proof. Everyone will have to believe us!

Please report this to Pomponia as soon as possible. And tell her that there's no need to worry about things like curses or the spread of petrifaction any longer.

Player: "I'd be happy to report such good news."

Of course, there are creatures in Scar Canyon that are still affected by Tiamat's petrifaction, but we can rest easier since it won't spread out of control, like we thought.

Brigade General Yulia assured us that it's one less thing to worry about. She also said our advance into Balaurea can gather some momentum, thanks to your help.

When you visit the Illusion Fortress later, don't forget to see Yulia. I'm sure she will shower you with praise.
