While you were busy with other tasks, we continued pursuing Kumbanda.

We discovered that Kumbanda is hiding in Subterranea.

We dispatched pursuit Daeva Daons as soon as possible, but unfortunately he got away from us.

But we did find out that he is planning something there. Daons is working with the Reians to investigate what Kumbanda is up to.

Only once we know this will we be able to predict Kumbanda’s next steps.
However, Daons hasn’t reported back to us for some time.

As we haven’t heard anything from him for several days now, we assume he’s having some trouble.

Would you go and check this out for us, please? In his last report, he asked the Reian Ortiz to send reinforcements. Try talking to him about Daons.

Why are you so late?

Daons waited for help but none came, so he had to move on.
He went to Subterranea with Anilmo and the others to try and investigate the area.

Anilmo even managed to find out what it was that Kumbanda was after there.

But I haven’t heard from them in days now. Let’s hope they haven’t been attacked by the Trueshot.

We don’t have much time! Help me look for Daons and Anilmo.

If they went to Subterranea then they were probably discovered by the Trueshot. So you should start by looking out for that guy.
Ah, Player! How did it go?

(Looks around.) You’ve come back by yourself, huh. I take it you couldn’t find Daons or Anilmo?

Did you look for the Trueshot? That guy must have something to do with all this.
Daons is dead? What happened?

(Looks at the torn rag) A code, written in blood! It’s one of the Reian symbols. This is one of the methods we use to let our comrades know that we’re in danger.

This symbol means ‘brainwashing’. I think this means Anilmo has been taken to Udas Temple.

Do you know how those Dragonbound followers brainwash others? They abduct them and feed them strange seeds. They’re called beritra’s seeds, and they’re cursed. A while after you eat one, you forget who you are.

Once they start brainwashing you, there’s no way to stop it. The only thing we can do for Anilmo now, is to end his life.

Ugh, this is really upsetting. I’ll have to spend some time thinking about what to do next. You should go to Valetta and report all of this.

What’s happened to Daons? Is he alright?
That’s really awful. Daons... dead... He may not have been the brightest, but he still shouldn’t have had to die.

But we cannot give up. We need to find a way to capture Kumbanda somehow.

I guess only Anilmo would know where Kumbanda is now. So we need to help him as quickly as we can. They’re using beritra’s seeds to brainwash people... This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happen.

But surely you know about that already? What happened to Villaire from the Red Sky Legion?

The Dragonbound are using Beritra’s power to brainwash people. I’m certain that means this is connected to the Villaire incident.
They’re not strong enough to contaminate everyone in Brusthonin at once, but certainly enough to control a single human.

Once it was clear why Villaire went rogue, we started a series of investigations. Those investigations aren’t complete yet, but we’re starting to see some results.

That’s why I’m going to give you the Sceptre of Purification. If the seeds haven’t fully taken hold, this will allow the Reians to escape the brainwashing.

However, bare in mind that this sceptre holds Triniel’s power. We can’t be sure what effect this will have on a Reian who has escaped the power of the aether and come into contact with drana.

So, before you use the power of the sceptre, please go to the Reian Ortiz and check whether using it will cause any problems.
Did you report this to Brigade General Valetta already?

While you were away, I kept an eye out for Anilmo. As expected, he’s been dragged off to Udas Temple.

So we can assume that he’s already been brainwashed.
You mean to say you can use this to reverse the effects of brainwashing? Just a second.

(Takes the Sceptre of Purification and holds it for a moment, concentrating, then hands it back to you.) I didn’t notice anything bad happening. How fortunate! And thank you. You’ve given us our hope back.

If we hurry, we should be able to save Anilmo and all the other captured Reians.

Look for the Destroyed Gargoyle in Subterranea. The statue marks the entrance to Udas Temple.

You’ll need to use it to enter the temple. Please save Anilmo and his comrades with the Sceptre of Purification. They’re being held in the Rebirthing Chamber.

While you’re there, kill Kura Stormgaze too. That’s one of the ones brainwashing the prisoners.
(Only this statue’s torso still stands.)

Unfortunately we couldn’t protect Daons, but we still have the reports we made with him.

Anilmo said that Kumbanda is trying to bring the dead dragon in the ruins beneath Subterranea back to life.

We expect that he wants to use the power of the Fateful Artefact to achieve this.

And… would you mind giving me that sceptre? I want to use it to reverse the effects of the brainwashing and save the rest of the Reians.
Hmmmm.... This is quite detailed. And useful--this will certainly lead us to Kumbanda. This Reian...Anilmo.... You say he kept this even after being brainwashed? Impressive.... I shall keep my eye on him.
