Check on the Settlers
icon Quest
Type: Quest
Category: Brusthonin
Lv.: 20
Asmodian Only

Description:
Talk with Dehen. Talk with Snill. Talk with Jarnsaxa. Talk with Randet. Meet with various people and check the status of Settlers Campsite.
Summary:
Randet needed accurate information about Settlers Campsite. She asked you to talk to Dehen, the Watch Leader. Dehen complained his workers were in constant danger. He sent you to Snill who knew more about reconstruction progress.

Snill told you that poor food quality is slowing work, and Jarnsaxa said that food shortages would soon lead to starvation. Randet seemed surprised by your reports but promised to act on them at once.

Full quest's text:
Lady Lumiel, ordered the Temple of Wisdom to heal the lands of Brusthonin. And so my sisters in the Wisdom Orb Legion and I have come. We've studied the contamination in the soil and we're making great strides towards curing it. The research takes a great deal of my time, however, and I have other matters to attend as well.

Player: "What sort of matters?"

The Archons and Watch protect the settlers while our Legion focuses on soil research. We make great strides, but it leaves me blind to what the other groups are accomplishing.

What I really need are updates on how the settlers and reconstruction projects are faring. I get written status reports, of course, but what someone knows and what they'll put in a permanant record aren't always the same thing.

Player: "How can I aid you?"

The settlers are afraid to tell us how things are really going. All we hear are the good things, which is fine as far as it goes, but it's the setbacks we really need reported.

They might feel more comfortable with you, Player. Your reputation precedes you, to say the least.

Would you check the current status of the Settlers Campsite, as well as checking the progress of the reconstruction work--oh, and anything else that requires our attention?

Player: Accept.

Speak to Dehen first. He's the nominal leader of settlers. If there's anything going on there, he knows about it.

Be discreet, Player. I want honest reports uncolored by their sun-poxed perceptions of the Legion.

If we know what they really need, we can help them far more effectively.

Player: "On my way."

Azphelumbra, Player. What can I do for you?

I saw you talking with Randet. Did she send you to me? Not that it matters...I don't dare keep this secret any longer.

Player: "What's going on?"

It's my job as the de facto leader to keep the settlers safe--herding Taygas is easier, to be honest. We're doing our best, here, but it's just not safe. We can't even walk around in Brusthonin without fear of attack.

I've heard that the reconstruction project is having problems too. Snill is in charge of managing laborers. You should talk to him.

Player: "I'll do that. Thank you."

I had a dream, you know? My father wanted me to be a farmer. A little land, some seed...I could have been a farmer, sure. Instead I signed up to be a settler. Now I've got land but I can't use it....

I tell you what, Daeva. A farmer without land isn't worth a bucket of Kobold dung. There, I said it. It's just so freeing to finally get it out in the open.

Er...you needed something?

Player: "How goes the reconstruction?"

Well, you can't build a sun-cursed thing when your belly's empty. We're running out of food and what there is tastes like it dates back to the Cataclysm.

Talk to Jarnsaxa. She's the one stirring the pot.

Player: "Thanks for your candor."

Years of chef training gone to waste. I dreamed of opening my own cafe, or cooking for generals....Where did I end up, though? The camp cook for a bunch of settlers. It's very frustrating.

Of course, I'm happy to do my part for Asmodae. And it's not all bad. I still have a side business.

I've a few items that might appeal to a Daeva. Feel free to browse my goods.

Player: "About this food problem..."

I know about the complaints, but what can I do? My hands are tied. We've hardly any food--I can give out only the smallest portions.

If we could grow more food, our problems would be solved, but that's not going to happen with this tainted soil.

If we can't secure more food stocks, people will starve to death long before we rebuild.

Player: "Thanks, Jarnsaxa."

You can't learn the truth by studying in a library. You have to get out among the people. I picked many young Daevas during the recruitment, such as my beloved Noe. They'll gain valuable experience here.

Enough about me, Player. What did you learn?

Player: "Your people are in dire need."

We're running out of food? I knew the swill was getting worse but I had no idea it was this bad.

I appreciate Dehen's security concerns. I'm not anxious to see our work undone by monsters.

Your information is most valuable, dear Player. I'll alert the Temple of Wisdom at once.
