Type: Campaign
Category: Theobomos
Lv.: 46

Description:
Talk to Atropos. Talk to Jamanok. Go to Broken Fang Bridge and transform into a Calydon. Make rubbings of First Calydon Stone Plate. Make rubbings of Second Calydon Stone Plate. Make rubbings of Third Calydon Stone Plate. Take the copy to Serimnir. Listen to Serimnir. Report the result to Atropos. Order: Atropos has a request regarding the Theobomos Ruins. Go to the Observatory and meet with Atropos.
Summary:
Atropos reported that he was interested in what Theobomos is researching in Sanctum. He asked you to research the ruins of Calydon.

You received a Calydon Candy from Atropos, and made a rubbing in Calydon Village with the help of the innkeeper, Jamanok.

You took the rubbing to Serimnir in Marla Cave. He ascertained that the contents concerned Petraliths, and that the records about them were a lot more than mere legends.

You went to Atropos and told him about the Petraliths. He was very pleased, and said that you had contributed to a great deal of progress.

Full quest's text:
Sanctum isn't interested in restoring Theobomos merely for historical reasons.

There was once a weapons research laboratory here, during the Millennium War. Sanctum has a deep interest in recovering those weapons.

Just imagine the power they might hold.

I’ve already investigated at the request of Guardian Centurion Gaix. So far, I’ve found out that Theobomos has been devoting himself to exploring the Calydon Ruins.

But what exactly he was trying to find, I couldn’t tell. Calydon reacted very sensitively to any attempt to approach it.

On top of that, each Guardian has their own task, so we’re in dire need of a helper who could dedicate themselves solely to this assignment. Which is why I’m hoping you might take over exploring the Calydon Ruins, Player.
I’ve asked Hestia, the master chef at the Temple of Artisans in Sanctum, to provide you with something that’ll help you get into Calydon Village.

In order to explore the Calydon Ruins in peace, it’s best if you turn yourself into a Calydon. If you eat this piece of candy, you will turn into one.

The Guardians have spotted stone tablets bearing images in the area. Take this piece of candy and go into Calydon Village to examine the ruins. Finding and getting rubbings of these stone tablets will be your most important task.

Before you head to the Calydon Ruins, go and meet Jamanok. He’s been living there for a long time and will know plenty.

Once you’ve got them, talk to Serimnir in the Marla Cave. He’s a bit eccentric, but he’s the only person who’ll be able to tell you anything about what the rubbings mean.

I know it’s a lot to ask, but I truly believe you can do it, Player.
A warm welcome to Jamanok Inn, Player.

Would you like to stay the night, or just eat?

Whatever you need, just let me know.
This is a Calydon Candy. It’ll let you reach the Calydon ruins without any problems.

But the transformation doesn’t last very long, so make sure you save using it until the last moment.

The ruins are near Chieftain Dodum’s hiding place. You’ll find a bridge there.

That’s called the Broken Fang Bridge, if memory serves. It’s probably wise if you eat the candy before the bridge. Once across the bridge, you’ll reach a mound of earth with the tablet Atropos spoke of.

May you return unharmed. I hope to see you at the inn again, Player.
What are you doing here?

(Suddenly closes his mouth and seems unsettled.) Why have you come to someone who’s run away from the world and who lives here in seclusion?

I’ve already cut all ties with Atreia.

So I’m asking you not to plunge my heart into a state of turmoil with pointless matters.
You have the rubbings from Calydon Village? A truly astonishing discovery. So the Petraliths were real.

The rubbings are about the Petraliths. You can see the Tower of Eternity and the Petraliths. And here you can see the Calydons too, bowing before them.

I think the Calydons believe that Aion created the Petraliths. They still worship them today.

I didn’t think the Calydons had existed for so long. I thought they were just mutations that had arisen from under the influence of the Cataclysm.
I’ve wondered for a long time whether I should say it, or if it would be better to just keep quiet... But just I have to tell you!

Player, you don’t know me, but I know you. I used to belong to the Lepharists.

They had a list of Daevas they wanted to see dead.

Your name was on that list, Player.

Anyway… Player, let’s not talk about it anymore. Go.
Sanctum mentioned that they were looking for this. They didn't say what it was exactly, and I'm not even entirely sure they know.

A weapon the Empyrean Lords never knew about? A colossal engine of destruction, apparently?

We have to find out more.
