- Balaur Lord Ereshkigal -

Ereshkigal was the third Balaur Lord to ascend. She was both the harshest judge and the greatest tactician of the Balaur.

She created the laws and rules of the Balaur, and her magic rivaled that of the first Balaur Lord, Fregion.

Unlike the other Balaur, Ereshkigal was rational and pursued harmony instead of battle and slaughter, all in order to gain more power.

Considering that the Balaur's instincts favor bloodshed, anger, and power, one might go as far as to call Ereshkigal an outcast.

However, there was nothing more important to her than her honor and pride. If they came to be damaged in any way, she reacted as fiercely as any Balaur and her thirst for vengeance rivaled none.

- Ereshkigal and Peace -

Ereshkigal had a greater knowledge of ancient magic and spells than any being in Atreia and Balaurea, and she was the most dangerous enemy of all.

But at the end of the war, it was Ereshkigal who sided with the peace talks in favor of humanity’s survival.

Ereshkigal clearly expressed her opposition to Tiamat's plan to use the peace treaty to wipe out Aion, the Empyrean Lords, and the humans.

Ultimately the peace treaty ended in the Cataclysm. Due to this, a rift formed between Ereshkigal and the other Balaur Lords.

In fact, Ereshkigal disappeared without a trace soon after.

- Ereshkigal and Drakenspire Depths -

An eternity passed before Ereshkigal was seen again.

During this time, Elysea and Asmodae became divided and the Abyss surfaced. The Daevas advanced to Balaurea and ages passed before Tiamat was finally defeated by the Daevas and the Empyrean Lord.

After the Cataclysm, Ereshkigal was sealed in the Drakenspire Depths by Fregion and Tiamat for opposing the other Balaur Lords. When the seal weakened after Tiamat's death, she was able to break free and return.

After Beritra invaded Balaurea and Atreia, a deafening sound was heard and the hidden land of Tiamat rose from the ocean.

Ereshkigal had worked together with Beritra to escape from the seal, but when Beritra betrayed her, she became so enraged that she risked her own life to break free from the seal.

On the day Ereshkigal escaped, her fury turned into a cold, dark storm. It ripped open the morning sky and enveloped Drakenspire Depths in an unusual snowstorm.

- Ereshkigal’s Return -

Having spent such an eternity imprisoned, the strength required to break the seal left Ereshkigal in a weakened state. She headed for her old territory of Reshanta, what we today call the Abyss.

Ereshkigal was determined to exact revenge on the Balaur Lords and the Daevas. To recover her original strength, she froze the inner Abyss.

To recover even quicker, Ereshkigal needed a miracle. To create one, she found a flower that bloomed once every thousand years. She harnessed its magical power by sacrificing living beings to force an earlier blossom.

Although Ereshkigal was known for her cold rationality and pursuit of harmony, this event marked her descent into madness.

In the end, Ereshkigal was resurrected.

- Shining Light -

The number of Daevas who were sacrificed to the flower was enormous. In order to stop Ereshkigal, the Daevas sent out fleets and soliders into the inner Abyss.

However, Ereshkigal had regained her strength and had no problems thwarting the Daevas. Fear of her power spread throughout and none would contest her.

The following are the orders from the Brigade General after the inner Abyss attack failed.

- The General’s Orders -

Daevas, despite our efforts the flower has bloomed and Ereshkigal has risen again.

Her powers pierced through the Divine Fortress and froze the air in all of Reshanta.

The Daevas took fleets to the Divine Fortress to stop Ereshkigal.

Soon after, she appeared before us and we began attacking her with all our might.

When an earth-shaking explosion sounded and dark smoke began billowing, the Daevas thought they had won and started to cheer.

However... the Balaur Lord emerged from the smoke, without a single scratch. The Daevas choked on their victory screams.

The piercing roar of the Balaur Lord shook the Abyss and no Daeva was willing to stand their ground before Ereshkigal.

Times are grim, but we cannot not kneel in the face of adversity.

Daevas, it is time to make a stand.

Countless lives were lost and several fleets were destroyed, but we were finally able to advance into Reshanta after only three attempts.

However, Ereshkigal had already hidden herself away in the inner Abyss. She subsequently destroyed her own land, Reshanta.

To exact her vengeance, Ereshkigal sought more power and headed to Lakrum in order to claim the Holy Relic for herself.

That was the end of Ereshkigal, whose drive for pure power led her on a different path than those of other Balaur.
