Dialogs: Chapter 1. Aether for the Ancient People It requires a great caution to discuss Aether, the essence of all lives inhabiting Atreia. Even the ancient people recognized the influence of Aether on life. They believed that all things under the sun created themselves by absorbing Aether. However, they failed to see the complexity of Aether; for them, Aether was nothing more than a material of alchemy. With blind belief in the power of Aether, they focused only on extracting purer Aether and discovering the secrets of creating a new life. Ancient alchemists tried to prove their belief that they were omniscient and omnipotent beings who knew how to control the power of Aether. Such attempt led the ancient alchemy to its ruin. I affirm that ancient alchemists made a wrong decision and that Aether is not one of the simple materials constituting a life. Chapter 2. What is Aether? Current definition of Aether is similar to that of the past. The only difference is that we now think of Aether not only an essential material of life but also a spiritual mechanism. Such belief is based on the realization of Lady Lumiel, the Empyrean Lord of Wisdom. Lumiel's definition of Aether is considered the closest to its true nature and essence and has greatly contributed to the development of Aetherology. Scholars trying to reveal the mystery of Aether freed themselves from the traditional materialistic viewpoint and challenged to understand intangible properties including life and mind. They chose the right path. It is now revealed that the interaction of Aether and life influencing each other is the key to maintaining harmony in Atreia. Chapter 3. The Power of Aether Many reported cases show how Aether affects life or, in other words, how the power of Aether works. Most common cases include that humans have ascended as Daevas after affected by the power of Aether and that Obelisks have been built where the purest form of Aether exist. The fact that the lack of Aether deteriorates forests and accelerates desertification also prove the power of Aether. Some even argue that the Balaur found in the Abyss were influenced too much by Aether and as a result, were degenerated mentally and physically. Nevertheless, all these cases only prove that the lack or excess of Aether may change life. They fail to answer the fundamental question - "Then, what power resides in Aether?" Chapter 4. The Ability to Handle Aether The ability to handle Aether is innate. "Thus, the question ""How can one handle Aether well?"" does not apply." Most people who know how to deal with Aether just realize their abilities one day. One finds his innate ability through an unexpected experience while another is drawn by a mysterious power after waking up as any other day and finds himself changing substances. No matter how they realize, Daevas who handle Aether work in various fields. They are in great demand these days. Chapter 5. Applications of Aetherology This chapter will introduce some practical uses of Aetherology in everyday life. Aether seems to affect one's spirit although its mechanism is still veiled. It is well known that Aether is used in healing and resurrection. Aether is also used in all crafting processes except cooking as an ingredient to change substances. Aether is used in many forms including powder, crystal, shard, or whole. Purer Aether is used in crafting higher quality goods. To extract Aether, Daevas need to learn proper extraction skills. They can buy the skills up to some levels, but they have to pass tests to equip higher level skills. Chapter 6. About the Stigma Stone The Stigma Stone known to contain some Aether energy has a close relationship with Aether. Many Daevas vanished during the Millennium War, the Epic Cataclysm, and the Elysean-Asmodian War. Although their bodies were reduced to ashes, their spiritual essence kept wandering Atreia and ended up mixing with Aether, producing crystals later named Stigma Stones. Many researchers have tried to explain the process of combining Aether with spiritual essence of perished Daevas because they believe that the process might be a key to unveiling the mechanism by which Aether influences life. However, none of them have succeeded in producing a convincing answer. Future developments of Aetherology may depend upon the research of the Stigma Stone.
